Hey people. Firstly, let me say that I hope everyone has been enjoying the holidays thus far. For my part, I am trying as hard as possible to catch up on all of the tasks I was supposed to (but didn't) accomplish this week. The last time I posted (Saturday morning) it had only been snowing for a few hours, and it looked like
this outside. By the end of the evening, when I tried to go to work, it looked like this:

Same shot, much more snow. My garden's under there somewhere. Now, as I said, I
tried to go to work, but the attempt was unsuccessful. I made it to the subway alright, but by the time I got to the terminal at the other end, there were no buses running. I waited around until midnight on the off chance that one might show up, then called my job to tell them I couldn't get there, and took the last train back in the other direction.
As a capper to my utterly failed evening, once I made it back to the house and dropped my backpack and whatnot, I went back out into the hall to turn off the overhead light, slipped on the landing, and banged my head--HARD--on the front door of the opposite apartment. It sounded quite loud to me, but no one came out to see what had happened o_O I wasn't in much pain, but I called my friend who works nights at a bar in the neighborhood, so that just in case I turned out to be more injured than I thought I was someone would know. He insisted that I a)put ice on it, and b)not go to sleep, on the off chance that I had a concussion. He came over and sat up with me for several hours after his shift was over, so I didn't end up going to bed until nearly 6am.
The rest of my week has been pretty consistently crappy. All the snow has made commuting erratic and slow, and since I've had overnight shifts every day I haven't been able to get any of my errands done. I haven't been to the post office yet, and it doesn't look like any of the last minute shopping I wanted to do is going to get done :( I will try to get all of my cards and packages out on Saturday, so hopefully they will reach their destinations by New Year's.
Ah well, I suppose I have taken a long enough break from cleaning up the mild disaster area that is my apartment, so I should get back to it. Once that's done I can settle down to wrapping gifts for my family and watching
It's A Wonderful Life and
Meet Me In St. Louis. I have a few other updates, but they can wait for later (hopefully between now and then the connector cable for my camera will turn up...).
